[ wally returns the hug in equal measure, as dick is the closest thing he has ever had to a brother, but he can't resist rolling his eyes good-naturally once dick pulls away at the former robin's incredibly predictable choice of transport. ]

I'm not even sure why I bother asking anymore since nobody picks cradle besides Linda.

[ wally offers a nod of comfirmation at dick's desire for a quiet return, before his playful expression quickly turns into something more sincere.]

I know you've been really busy lately with everything going on so thanks for doing this.

[Absolutely deadpan.] Gee. The only person who picks cradle is your wife. I wonder why that might be, Wally.

[They've been friends for long enough he can get away with that.]

You can carry me cradle if I can't hold on on my own. Does that help?

[He shakes his head, reaching out to clap Wally on the shoulder.]

Hey. You're my best friend, Wally. I'm just sorry we didn't get a chance to do this before.

[ wally taps his chin with a finger, acting as if he's giving dick's deadpan remark some serious consideration even if he knows exactly what dick was implying, before he shrugs his shoulders to feign defeat. ]

Who knows? That woman is still a mystery to me even after all these years. But you got a deal.

[ at his friend's apology, he waves it away with a hand. ]

Dude, it's cool. I'm still getting settled in and you have like a dozen kids who love trouble to look after. [ his math might be a little off there. ] It's just a good thing I showed up to make sure you're taking care of yourself because we know how well you do that.

[Dick laughs, shaking his head.]

I'm doing better at it. No concussions since I got here, at least.

[Definitely something he should be avoiding more, what with the still healing head injury.]

Also, I have a teenager and a puppy to look after. Which means being better about looking after myself, too.

[ wally playfully quirks an eyebrow to say he isn't completely buying what his best friend is selling. ]

I'm still not entirely convinced a helmet isn't needed for that precious head of yours.

[ in truth, it is dick's tendency to try to hold everything together for everyone else at the expense of his own needs that wally worries about the most. ]

But you know what, maybe I'll feel differently with a beer in my hands if you're ready to get this show on the road.

[Which had been one of his main complaints when he'd been Batman. The cowl had driven him crazy.]

[He huffs a laugh and grins.]

[He's not that long off of being an amnesiac alcoholic, after all.]
