Nothing other than I could use a temporary break from reality.

[ wally was initially optimistic about finding the exit out of this place so he could return to his family, but as the days have become weeks, that optimism has withered away and he could use a distraction to take his mind off his failure so far. ]

And knowing you like I do, I'm guessing that I am not the only one.

I'm pretty sure this counts as a temporary break from reality.

[If anybody could have found a way back, it would have been Wally. That he's still here says a lot.]

I'm always looking for something to do. Tim's old enough to handle himself and Haley for a while, but no staying out all night. Do you have anything in particular in mind?

Yeah, well, I could use a vacation from this vacation.

[ If only this little trip came with a refund. ]

There's this bar outside of Central. It's not our usual kind of spot, but it's under the radar and it has surprisingly great nachos. You can finally buy me a celebratory drink for having a third kid on the way.

I found Bruce at the store and wound up inviting him over and he said yes

I'm joking. Mostly. Just make sure you let Haley out of her crate when you get in. I'm still on patrol, so I'll be a bit yet.

I walked her before I headed out, so you shouldn't need to take her out again yet. You know where the tea stuff is and what drinks we have. I'll see you both later.

[ less than a heartbeat after receiving the text, the room dick is in is filled with the sudden rush of wind, and if he does what his best friend told him to, he'll find wally standing there in front of him with his hands on his hips, grinning ear-to-ear. ]

You know the Wally Express is the only way to travel. So... will your mode of transportation be piggyback or cradle today?

[ wally doesn't even know why he bothers to keep asking because it's always piggyback, but perhaps today will finally be the day that cradle earns a victory. ]

[Of course he does as Wally says. And grins, standing up to give his friend a hug. Because Dick's always been the touchy-feely one in the family.]

[He pulls back and makes a face at Wally before sighing.]

There has to be a more graceful way of doing this. But piggyback. And we'll have to be careful on the way back in, but we're fine heading out.

[ wally returns the hug in equal measure, as dick is the closest thing he has ever had to a brother, but he can't resist rolling his eyes good-naturally once dick pulls away at the former robin's incredibly predictable choice of transport. ]

I'm not even sure why I bother asking anymore since nobody picks cradle besides Linda.

[ wally offers a nod of comfirmation at dick's desire for a quiet return, before his playful expression quickly turns into something more sincere.]

I know you've been really busy lately with everything going on so thanks for doing this.

[Absolutely deadpan.] Gee. The only person who picks cradle is your wife. I wonder why that might be, Wally.

[They've been friends for long enough he can get away with that.]

You can carry me cradle if I can't hold on on my own. Does that help?

[He shakes his head, reaching out to clap Wally on the shoulder.]

Hey. You're my best friend, Wally. I'm just sorry we didn't get a chance to do this before.

[ He breaks into the channel with little preamble, a little distracted by the work he’s doing. ]

[It takes a minute before the reply comes.]

Sorry. Needed to get to a rooftop. What's up?

Heron’s been captured. I don’t have much detail. Green Lantern is en route here.

Okay. I have a spare domino in my space and I have a top I can use to hide the swoop. I do have a second set of gloves as well.

[Just in case he needed to go properly stealth at some point. It's a lot easier to carry things around these days.]

Robin knows I'm on patrol and won't be expecting me back for a while.
